I am trying to book a single cabin, but the site won't let me. How do I book a single cabin?

Starting in 2024 we no longer take single cabin reservations.

I am trying to book for 1 night but the site won't let me. What is up with that?

We have a 3-night minimum.

What is check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is 4 pm and Check-out is 11 am. Times are listed as Eastern Standard Time.

Do the cabins have electricity?

Yes, the cabins have electricity, lights, outlets, etc.

Do the cabins have bathrooms?

No, the bathrooms are located off the back of the main lodge. They are not rustic. In contrast to our cabins, each private bathroom is modern, clean, and every bit as luxurious as traditional lodging. The distance to the bathrooms from the cabins varies between 20 and 50 yards.

Is there a television in the cabin?

No, however, there is electricity and wireless internet, so you are welcome to bring your portable electronics.

What furnishings do the cabins have?

All cabins have two queen bunks. Lower bunks have traditional queen mattresses, and upper bunks do too. A wall ladder is used to get to the top bunk that is secured to the wall. Top bunks are recommended for children and fit adults. Two cabins have an additional bump-out with two twin bunk beds. All cabins have mini-refrigerators, chairs, fans, rugs, lamps, etc.

Do you provide sheets and towels?

Yes, sheets and towels are included in each cabin. Clean towels are provided at the beginning of your stay and can be refreshed upon request.

Do you provide housekeeping services?

No, your cabin is yours for the duration of your visit.

Do the cabins have air conditioning?

No, the cabins do not have air conditioning. However, each has a ceiling fan and a stand fan. The cabins do tend to heat up during the sun-shiney days of summer; however, come sundown - opening up the french doors and allowing a few minutes of air to circulate in, the cabins will cool down quickly.

Do I have to go to sleep at a particular time?

No. But we ask that you respect the township's quiet hours of 10 pm to 7 am. Be aware - the police have been called before on loud patrons. 

Does the kitchen have a stove?

No - the shared kitchen does not have a stove. There is a propane grill available for your use (propane included) outside in our grillzebo. There is also a microwave and a small toaster oven in the kitchen.

Do we have to eat all our vacation meals in a restaurant?

No. We have a shared kitchen in the front lodge where you can store items in the refrigerator, the cabinets, etc. There is a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, utensils, cups, and plates for your use there as well. Feel free to use what is available; please return it at the end of your stay. Pack yourself a lunch for the beach and enjoy the day...

Is this like a B&B, Motel, Hotel, or Inn?

It's important that you understand that Harbor Country Cabins is not like a Bed & Breakfast, Motel, Hotel, or Inn. It is a unique lodging location - a glamping experience of sorts. Is this like camping?

No, we like to think of it as "recreational living." Our vision is to provide a unique lodging experience for people who enjoy nature and the outdoors but still provide modern amenities like a full bathroom and 4 walls to sleep in. Out of respect to our property, we do not permit tents of any kind to be erected unless prior consent is obtained at the time of booking.

Are children welcome?

Absolutely! It's our goal to be an affordable and fun lodging for families with children.

Are pets permitted?

Generally, yes. We love animals and would be most happy to discuss if your pet is welcome. You will need to bring a solution to keep them safe and secure if you plan on leaving the premises. Please notate what pets you plan to bring in your request for rental. **Any destruction done by pets will be the responsibility of the pets owner**

Is smoking allowed inside?

Not inside the cabins, bathrooms, or shared kitchen. However, you are welcome to smoke outside of these areas. There are plenty of butt cans on the property. Please pick up butts after yourself and dispose of them properly.

Are you open all year round?

Regrettably not. Our season is from May through October, weather permitting.

How far are you from the beach?

Harbor Country Cabins is about 1/4 mile north of the Harbert Community Beach and 3 miles south of Warren Dunes State Park.

How far are you from public transportation?

There is an Amtrak Station 9 miles away in New Buffalo, MI, that runs daily to and from Chicago. See the Amtrak website for additional information. If you need transportation arrangements to and from the train, contact us and we can help.
